I recently spent four days in Yosemite with my girlfriend Kendra. She had to miss my trip here last month due to a last minute trip to care for her mother. So I got to play tour guide a bit and revisit some of the spots I shot last month.

This time I had a better feel for when and where to be based on the weather. And believe me, the weather can change quickly and dramatically here. In four days, we had flat gray skies, clear blue skies, dramatic storm clouds, morning mist, rain, hail, and snow.

This is an image from the last morning after some fresh snow. The skies were clear all morning, but the fresh frost added another dimension to a shot I had been working on last month and again this past weekend. I used my Singh-Ray Gold-N-Blue polarizer to really pull out and enhance the morning light reflecting off El Capitan along the Merced River. I rotated the image 180 degrees to orient it as to make the perspective more familiar, but still concentrate on the reflection to add an abstract, painterly feel. Hope you like it!
