--The Shot-
I've decided to continue with the Death Valley in monochrome theme. I realize I never posted any of my conversions from last winter's trip. This is Manly peak at Zabriskie Point after the early morning glow turned into more direct light. As the sun got higher it shone brighter on certain areas while casting dark shadows in other areas. The play of light and shadows really caught my eye.

--Software & Editing--
In ACR, changed the white balance.
IN PS CS3, I converted to black and white using Nik's Silver Efex Pro. Layers included levels adjustment to brighten image, a Light Lights luminosity mask with a Curves adjustment to brighten the brighter areas, a Burn/Dodge layer using 50% gray and Soft Light layer mode with a Lights luminosity selection to further dodge and brighten selective areas. Nik Sharpener Pro to sharpen and custom action for web sizing, sharpening, color space and bit depth.
