I've been MIA for the last month on flickr (but not over at my FB page and 500px). Part of the reason is my D300 is off getting fixed due to a scratch on the low pass filter. In the meantime, I picked up a D7000 to tide me over. As my computer is about 4.5 years old, the larger file sizes were actually a problem, so editing any new images has been painful due to the time and the lack of RAM.

The good news is I have been still out photographing the beautiful spring. The yellow bush lupine up in Pescadero, the grassy hills of Russian Ridge, and a quick trip to Yosemite have kept me busy the past month. I've been dabbling in time lapse photography as well and hope to share some of those one day when i figure it all out and get my new computer up and learn a bit about Adobe Premier and After Effects. In fact, if anyone is well versed in these, lives in the bay area, and wants to maybe trade some Photoshop tutorials for video editing sessions, let me know!

As for the image, this is another one from the glorious New Year's Day sunrise in Death Valley's Badwater basin salt flats. Before I found the cool formation in my 1st post from this morning, I was scrambling to find a good foreground where I could eliminate a photographer who chose to walk out in front of everyone else (bad etiquette on the salt flats, especially when they were the last person to show up). Grr.

The Sea to Summit Workshops Death Valley outing in November is already half full, so that is exciting news as well. If Josh and I fill this one, we may add another for February.

Teaching a coastal Big Sur outing tomorrow and then I think I may scout a few new locations I have my eye on. Anyone got exciting weekend plans? Leave them in the comments!
