Juste avant les TGV - a photo on Flickriver

            Septembre 1980 : premiers essais en traction électrique sur la première section mise sous tension de la ligne à grande vitesse Paris-Lyon, au sud de Montchanin-Le Creusot. Au Point Kilométrique 277, la CC 21002 avec une voiture de mesures et la BB 67220 sont arrivés de Montchanin en traction diesel. Cet endroit est le début du domaine d'essais. Au nord de ce point, la caténaire n'est pas sous tension. Le train est arrêté, la CC-21002 vient de lever son pantographe et s'apprête à partir. Elle va circuler toute la matinée pour une série d'aller-retours sur le domaine d'essais, avant de laisser le passage à des TGV pour leurs premiers contacts avec leur ligne nouvelle. A la suite de modernisations, ce point de sectionnement n'existe plus aujourd'hui.

The first electric train tests on the first new high speed line in France (Paris Lyon, aka LGV Sud-Est, aka LN1) took place in Sept 1980. This test train with dual voltage CC-21002 ran first before TGV runs. The picture shows the test train just arrived with a diesel (BB-67220) at the end of the electrified test zone from Montchanin. Now the electric engine will take over.
