Wood Pile Abstract

This is one of those things that just happens.

I sat on the front porch of the cabin that I rented in Mammoth Lakes, CA twice a day for two days staring at this wood pile. It's the community wood pile for the lodge I was staying at. I felt that there was a photo to be made here, but could not quite see it in my mind's eye. On the third afternoon I gave in, grabbed my camera, walked to within five feet of the community wood pile, took a meter reading, adjusted my focal length and exposure, released the shutter while slowly panning to the right. Once my camera view finder came back to life I turned and walked away. This is the only exposure I made of the wood pile that held my attention for those few days. I think result is the perfect depiction of what I could not visualize but knew was there.
