9H-MIP 2 Airbus A380-841 Hi Fly Malta (Save the Coral Reefs logojet) MAN 02OCT19

Hi Fly's 'Save the Coral Reefs' logojet making it's first visit to Manchester operating a UK CAA Repatriation flight returning from Cancun, Mexico with Thomas Cook Airlines UK passengers.

Livery sponsored by The Mirpuri Foundation. Interesting to note that on the pale blue (left) side, the coral and the fishes are colourful and alive. On the darker blue (right) side the coral is white and dead and the fishes are skeletons...

An early A380 (c/n 006) first flown in Nov-06 with the Airbus test registration F-WWSC. This aircraft was fitted out and painted at the Airbus factory at Hamburg-Finkenwerder before taking part in the early flight test programme. It was delivered to Singapore Airlines as 9V-SKC in Mar-08.

The aircraft was sold on delivery to Doric Asset Finance and leased back to Singapore Airlines for 10 years. It was withdrawn from service and stored at Singapore in Nov-17 and returned to Doric Asset Finance in May-18. The registration D-ASKC was assigned but not used.

It was leased to Hi Fly Airlines Malta as 9H-MIP in Jul-18 and briefly wet-leased to Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia in Aug-18. The aircraft has been wet-leased to many airlines since delivery including covering for Norwegian Air Shuttle's Boeing 787's during engine maintenance in Aug-18, it also operated for Air Austral in Sep-18.

The aircraft operated it's last commercial service Shanghai / Seoul / Hamburg in Dec-20, carrying PPE cargo.  It was permanently retired at Lourdes (France) in Mar-21.  Updated 02-Oct-21.

Note: Hi Fly is an ACMI operator (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance) with bases in Portugal and Malta operating this A380 and A340-300's, an A340-500, A330-200/300's and have recently taken delivery of their first A330-900N.
