This is a view of the Betatakin Cliff Dwelling taken while visiting this park on our way from Marble Canyon to Mexican Hat. Used the 70mm here to reach farther and still take in the entire cliff dwelling. Captured here with the CPL filter.

We have passed this signs for this place several times on past trips, and on this current trip had time to visit the park. I also took along the long lens for birding along the trail, and will post later photos with the 200/600 lens.

Always amazing to see places like these while traveling between the "larger" parks.

The Hopi, San Juan Southern Paiute, Zuni, and Navajo people have inhabited the canyons for centuries. Springs fed into farmlands on the canyon floor and homes were built in the natural sandstone alcoves. The cliff dwellings of Betatakin, Keet Seel, and Inscription House were last physically occupied around 1300 AD.

After spending time in Valley of the Gods (lots of Milky Way photos taken there) as well as Natural Bridges ... will be exploring the Moab area parks which are finally having some clear skies for a change for some night captures. Last couple of times through here the nights were cloudy.
