Lighthouse - The Sun sets on the Coquille River Lighthouse, Oregon

This image was taken after my panorama of the Coquille Lighthouse which sits
along the Coquille River on the Oregon Coast. We were packing up to leave
as the sun was setting. As I was packing the camera gear away I took a
look back at the lighthouse and thought it would be nice to capture it in
silhouette against the setting sun. I only had to take a few steps in to
the empty field behind the lighthouse to capture the shot and it turned out
better than I had hoped. Be sure you also check out the original photo I
posted which is a panorama of the river, driftwood, grass, moon and of the
course the lighthouse:

They have since started restoration of this lighthouse and painted the
bottom of it deep red similar to that on the Golden Gate Bridge. This is
due to finding chips of red pain under the existing paint although after
reading there seems to be some controversy regarding this color as it may
have simply been an undercoat. The weather on the Pacific is quite harsh
and no doubt the lighthouse was painted several times since being built.
