Barrow Hill Derbyshire 1st April 2009

            Two other residents of the Midland Railway Barrow Hill roundhouse stand on adjacent turntable roads with steam & smoke from 69621 & 60163 filtering above in the roof space.

Severn Valley Railway resident LMS Black 5 4-6-0 45110 and Midland 1F 0-6-0T 41708 both look the part. 41708 in particular is at home at Barrow Hill being shedded there in British Railways days for many years.

I never visited Barrow Hill in BR days but I remember very clearly passing a line of 7-8 steam engines in a siding at Rotherham Masborough in summer 1966 which I discovered later included 41708. All the remaining Barrow Hill locos had been withdrawn that year and were en route to be scrapped - except this one of course.
