Southern Crescent Georgia USA 31st March 1978

            We took the Southern Railway's Southern Crescent from New Orleans to Atlanta & back for a long weekend break. Departing from the Crescent City at 06.45am the train arrived Atlanta at 7.10pm. Excellent grits for breakfast plus fine food in the dining car.

With EMD E8 6906 on the front the motive power was made up of 2 locos & 2 slave units all in SR livery.

I'm not sure where this was taken but given there are hills and embankments it must be shortly after leaving Atlanta.
