Lostock Hall Preston Lancashire 15th June 1968

            I've been taking shots from steam loco cab windows for some time now! The view from LMS Ivatt 4MT 2-6-0 43027 in the scrap line at Lostock Hall shed reveals that sister engine 43019 immediately ahead has also been set aside for the scrap man, together with a Stanier 8F 2-8-0 & a 5MT 4-6-0.

At the present-day GCR I've had the luck to be a fireman on all the loco types that were still around in 1968 with the exception of an Ivatt like these two. 43106, also present on the day, is the only survivor & I always hope we might get the chance to run her from Loughborough so I can tick all the boxes! It did leave the SVR this year for the first time to another preserved line so who knows?
