This beautiful public park is part of the Fountaingrove Community in Santa Rosa, California. The land on which it sits, was part of.a community owned by Mr. Thomas Harris in the late 1870's.
Some 30 plus years later, in upstate New York, Harris met one of the first Japanese immigrants to the U.S. in the early 1900's by the name of Kanaya Nagasawa who would later be adopted by Mr. Harris.
They both traveled to Santa Rosa to purchase 1,500 acres of land in the Fountaingrove area, which at the time was a wine vineyard. They both turned it into a very successful business. Also for many years, Kanaya Nagasawa would entertain Japanese immigrants to the U.S. until his death. After his death, it was sold to a Errol MacBoyle. When Errol MacBoyle died, his wife remarried, and her new husband, Siegried Becchold turned the vineyard into a pasture and raised cattle for beef. And then in 2007 a parcel of land was named Nagasawa Community Park at Fountain Grove.

Some other information I found about the Harris family is that his adopted son's real name was Hikosuke Isonaga who was born to Samuri class in Japan.
