Octopus rubescens, Red Octopus

            Montana de Oro State Park,
San Luis Obispo Co., California

As we got out to the intertidal zone at minus tide we met a Cal Poly invertebrate class, which had already collected some animals to show their group. After I saw this animal I asked if I could be alerted when they returned it. Here, it was near the water but chose a ledge (out of sight) to crawl under instead. Thanks to the class.
