CCH 3350, Mahrt Turn, Columbus, GA, 11/06/22

            CCH 3350 & CCH 3349 head the Mahrt Turn after being nearly a hour behind schedule. After 378 departed Columbus, the job was told via the yardmaster, saying the train wasn’t fully built and the local job on NS still had to build the other half. After waiting nearly half an hour for it to be fully assembled, the job doubled up, cleared the wye, and the conductor walked back up to the head end. Here the job is headed south to WestRock, to the Mahrt plant, where workers are on strike, though temporary workers are keeping the plant alive, it keeps the Mahrt turn operating nightly, and the plant open 24/7, while running right down the middle of 9th Street, an everyday occurrence for The Brickyard & the Mahrt Turn.
