LEGO: Modern 3001 test Cx7

            This is one of the newer test bricks, but still the old bottom, so thick walls, no cross supports
The top showing a C on 7 studs, missing on the second left lower stud.
No markings inside and the pip is on the long side left, slightly below the middle.

The top row showing older colors, but in the same mold, the bottom row showing the new test bricks.
For now, no clue if the upper row has anything to do with the bottom row, except for the same mold use.
Also the materials tested are not know for now, my best guess is they are sustainability tests with different materials.
 
As far as is known now, these are “woodsugar” test bricks from 2015-ish, made of woodfibers containing sugars.
These sugars are converted into polymers that can be made into any shape.
The hope is to make sustainable plastics that are more environmentally friendly but work the same as other plastics like ABS.
These bricks are not fully there, some are too soft, others don’t have the exact measurements yet that LEGO requires.
Also getting the colors right might be a problem.
 
For now the science is still busy perfecting these methods and materials, but there are many promising results.
