The night sleeper from Tbilisi to Yerevan.

            My chosen mode of transport from Georgia to Armenia was via the Georgian Railways operated sleeper service. This only runs ever second day so I had to make sure my flight into Georgia coincided with  the sleepers timetable. The journey of just over 200 miles was scheduled to take ten and a half hours but of course Georgian customs had to be cleared at their designated station of Sadakhlo and again at Airum where Armenian border controls had to be negotiated. Each stop took over an hour and ensured that all passengers awoke from any fitful sleep they had managed.

Georgian Railways operated VL10-1354 is seen here arriving at Tbilisi with the four coach sleeper to Yerevan. The locomotive would take the service as far as Airum where motive power would be changed to a locomotive operated by Armenian Railways.
