Western side of Nant Ffrancon, Eryri National Park, Gwynedd, UK

            This is the view from Beaumaris seafront, on Ynys Môn (Anglesey); pretty much the same angle as from Beaumaris Castle.

The expansive spoil heaps of Penrhyn Quarry, 11 km away, weren't visible to the 14th Century castle occupants, of course; it wasn't until the turn of the 20th Century that Penrhyn was the world's largest slate quarry.

Fronllwyd, behind the quarry, rises rightwards to the 721 m shoulder of Carnedd y Filiast 13 km away, then curves back left to the 821 m main summit, just in the cloud 13.4 km away.

The next glimpse of arête, 13.7 km away, rises to Mynydd Perfedd (812 m).

The lower slope to the left is Y Galan, 14.3 km away within Cwm Perfedd; Yr Esgair is behind, rising to Foel-Goch, 831 m asl and 15 km away within the cloud.
