Red-shouldered Hawk - a photo on Flickriver

A few weeks earlier, I had had a brief encounter with a red-shouldered hawk at my friend's house in a suburban neighborhood in Chula Vista. It had just landed on the fence, stood there for a moment, and flew off before I could grab my camera to snap a few shots. I was completely bummed, thinking I’d never see it again.

Fast forward a few weeks: I was visiting the same neighborhood again, and as I rounded a corner in my car, there it was—the same hawk, or so I believe—perched majestically on top of a light pole. This time, it barely moved as I quickly pulled out my gear and fired off a few hundred frames in rapid bursts.

What a rewarding experience!
