NS 5168, NS GR&I Industrial Track, Fort Wayne, Indiana

During a heavy snowfall, local train NS LF14 (with a high hood GP38-2) heads up the steep grade during switching duties for the Cargill Salt Company on the old Grand Rapids and indiana Railroad (GR&I).

The steel towers on the right is a substation for the DANA Corporation. 

The Grand Rapids & Indiana Railroad later (Pennsylvania Railroad) ran from Cincinnati, Ohio to Mackinaw City, Michigan and was called "The Fishing Line" railroad, noted for their vacation passenger service to serve all the fishing resorts along its line, especially in northern Michigan. The line in Indiana was abandoned in piecemeal between 1979 and 1982, with just small sections used for short line railroads, and used as an industrial track in Fort Wayne, Indiana to serve a few companies. Michigan saw the same fate for this railroad.
