            The White Horse on Gold Street, Tiverton, Devon, dates from 1643.

Tiverton was founded around the year 650 AD as a royal estate. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the town grew to become a centre for the woollen industry, and wealthy wool merchants lavished money on St Peter's church.
