DB Class 143 330 Koln Hbf

            Deutsche Bahn lists the locomotive as Class 143 but they started lift in East Germany as DR Class 243. It was to be the DRs universal electric locomotive for general rail service. The prototype was built in built in 1982  with a designed maximum speed of 140 kilometres per hour (87 mph). After German reunification goods traffic in the former East Germany near end and many Class 243 locomotives were stored. From August 1990 locos went to Südostbahn (Swiss South-Eastern Railway) and Freiburg und Düsseldorf for testing by Deutsche Bundesbahn. Now they are used onInterRegio trains and Regional expresses. Over 500 of the various class types were built making it the most prolific modern loco in Germany.
