Isophysis on The Sentinels (iv)

            Large clump of Isophysis tasmanica (tasmanian purplestar) flowering in a quartzite outcrop on the slopes of the Sentinel Range, Tasmania. 
This species is endemic to Tasmania and is the basal member of the Iridaceae.
The western end of the range was burnt about two years ago. The flowering of Isophysis is not hugely influenced by fire events as far as I can tell. I didn't do controlled count but I'd say perhaps 30% of plants were in flower on this visit. The previous year it was perhaps probably less than 1%.
