Claremount-Wheeler House And Pond

            This was my primary objective for todays drive as I saw on the news that they are planning on tearing this abandoned house down.

Known as the Claremount House or Wheeler House, the building holds significance in Banff because it was built in 1920 as a summer home for famed mountain surveyor and Alpine Club of Canada founder AO Wheeler. 
Parks Canada has been responsible for the home since 1991, which was listed as a Recognized Federal Heritage Building a few years later. 
That recognition is the second highest heritage designation issued by the Federal Heritage Building Review Office. 
But the property located just off Mountain Avenue, on the north slope of Sulphur Mountain, has fallen into disrepair, and Parks Canada plans to demolish it this year (2010).
