This blacklegged tick larvae, embedded in an arm, is not much wider than the width of a hair. They cannot transmit the pathogens that cause tick-borne diseases such as Lyme, anaplasmosis, and babesiosis, but they are capable of transmitting Borrelia miyamotoi and Powassan virus.
