Having really enjoy cycling through the Catlins at the southern tip of the country, it was time to make our way north to Queenstown and have a little rest. We had heard from some cyclists that the dirt road to the Mavora Lakes was worth the detour. They weren't joking!

This photo was taken on day two of our ride on the Mavora Lakes road, in the company of Andrea from Switzerland and another German cyclist who had caught up with us. Together wiht the Danseys Pass and the Rainbow Track, that road offered some of the most remote and inspiring landscapes of New Zealand.
