Mullingar Half Marathon 2023 - 800 meters to go mark

12.5-Mile-Mark: This is a photograph from the 2023 Mullingar Half Marathon which was held in the town of Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Friday 17th March 2023 (St. Patrick's Day) at 10:00. This photograph was taken at the 12.5-mile mark just before the race leaves the Royal Canal greenway to descend into the town for the finish line in the town park. At this point, the rain during the race was at its very worst (as is evident by the rain falling on the canal in the background).
All proceeds of the Mullingar Half Marathon go to the charity T.E.A.M. (Temporary Emergency Accommodation Midlands). The race starts and finishes in Mullingar town and takes in some rural roads and the Royal Canal Greenway before finishing in the town park. Overall, the route is fair and reasonably flat. Today's weather unseasonably mild but very very wet from the start until the finish with many runners remarking that it was one of the wettest races they've ran in years.
