Hemicordulia tau

I am advised that this is the Tau Emerald Dragonfly.

Location is south coast New South Wales, Australia at Batemans Bay.

I had at first thought this was the Australian Emerald Dragonfly. However Harvey P advised me of the following: “The key (easiest) things to look for are (1) the degree of dorsal extension of the forward part of the yellow marks on the last two abdominal segments - in Australian Emerald they extend up in a point almost to the dorsal mid-line; and (2) the detail of the face pattern. It's not clearly visible in this profile shot, but you can see that the top of the frons (the top bit of the face just in front of and between the eyes) is yellow, not a metallic blackish blue that it would be in an Australian Emerald. As a generality, Australian's also tend to be greener and 'shinier', but it's not infallible.”
