            08027 is in charge of an interesting string of wagons at Toton yard, 28th April 1978. The first four wagons are vacuum braked 16 ton mineral wagons loaded with coal followed by a 20 ton brake van and then a right mix of predominately air braked wagons including oil tank wagons (both 4 wheeled and bogie), stone hoppers, cement wagons (both 4 wheeled and bogie), an open wagon, chemical tank and finally a van. I suspect this is actually a transfer move to the Carriage and Wagon works (out of shot, just to the right of the train) with the 16 ton minerals and brake van bringing in a supply of coal and the rest for repair.

Locomotive History
08027 was originally 13039 and then later D3039 and was built at Derby Works. It entered traffic in November 1953 and throughout the 1950’s and the first half of the 1960’s D3039 was allocated to Oxley MPD (Wolverhampton) until transferred to nearby Bescot when Oxley closed in March 1967. It was transferred to Derby in October 1967 before migrating to Toton in May 1968 where it would remain until withdrawn in November 1980, being broken up at Swindon Works in April 1982.
