            East Midlands Trains 156497 stands in the platform at Attenborough working 2A58, 17:39 Newark – Matlock, 7th November 2018.

Unit History
156497 is one of a class of one hundred and fourteen class 156 units built between 1987 and 1989 by Metro-Cammell at their Washwood Heath works in Birmingham. It entered service in April 1989 allocated to Neville Hill where it replaced the unsuitable class 150 units on Trans-Pennine Express services from Hull and Scarborough to Manchester and Liverpool. I first saw this unit at Leeds on the 11th September 1990. After twenty two years working in the North West/Yorkshire area it was one of a number of units involved in a shuffle between Train Operating Companies. As part of this shuffle East Midlands Trains gained four class 156 units (156470/73/97/98) from Northern Trains. 156497 arrived at Etches Park on the 16th October 2011 and entered service with East Midlands Trains shortly afterwards.
