One of my early colour transparencies after my move from number taking to photography. I am using a Hanimex Compact non SLR “point and shoot” camera with a 40mm lens of dubious quality around the edges of the frame and a cheap East German film, Orwochrome UT18 and here we find 03029 on shed at Norwich, 16th August 1975. East Anglia was a class 03 stronghold in the 1960/70’s. A tour of some of the East Anglia MPD’s and stabling points on the 19th August 1973 found the following class 03’s: Cambridge 2005/08/16, Chesterton Junction 2004/07, Colchester 2027/92, 2135, Ipswich 2009, 2109/60/61, Ipswich Wagon Works 2060, Norwich 2014/18/20/29(seen here)/35/37, 2175, Norwich station/yard 2034, 2103, Wymondham 2062, Kings Lynn 2010/12/17, a total of twenty six. I suspect you would struggle to find twenty six locomotives in total if you visited these locations today never mind twenty six locomotives of one class.

Locomotive History
03029 was built at Swindon works as D2029 and entered traffic in October 1958 allocated to Cambridge MPD. After spells at Hitchin, Hatfield and Lincoln it settled down at Norwich in July 1966 from where it was withdrawn in September 1979 after twenty one years service, It was broken up two months later in November 1979 by Doncaster Works.
