            Even with the the belated start to actively riding for 2024 the crew at Slow Roll Cycles did a little TLC on my Fuji Absolute(2018 Bike-O-Rama purchase) which allowed me to gain some valuable base miles on during the weirdly warm and mostly dry winter months. In April, I got my trusty Midnight Special back after an extensive overhaul by the trusty hands over at Black Saddle Bike Shop with the dynamo hub and new wheels being the biggest upgrades, which alone carried me to roughly 4000 miles in 8 months. During the coldest of winter morning commutes with double digit subzero windchills, Bruce (my Surly Wednesday) proved to be worth every dollar and traversed some pretty sketchy inclement winter weather when it existed with only one fall. During many of times in between the guys over at Revolution Cycles were always happy to watch my bikes when I didn't feel like locking it up outside.

After all this was said and done I finished 2024 with 5237 miles and while my milage was down from the previous year (6530 in 2023), I achieved a bigger goal and was able to commute to work by bike everyday. Rain, snow, wind, none of the elements kept me from a two wheeled transport. I'm thankful as always for such a great group of supportive friends I've made in the Madison Bikes community and beyond through the love of cycling, and it seems the family keeps getting bigger. I should not forget to mention, I loved joining on the Wednesday evening "taco ride" with Motorless Motion Bicycles starting and ending at Bandit and will miss the comradery of the group and highly suggest joining for tacos sometime. Who knows, maybe I'll make a guest appearance?!
