Trying to learn how to shoot a moving train

            Whenever I need to do a pick-up at the Menlo Park, Calif., commuter train station, I take a camera. Today, while waiting, I decided to try my hand at shooting train movement. I've shot trains before, but never moving. Some notes.

I had no idea re shutter speed, as the speed of the Caltrain could not be predicted. I put the camera on the pavement, went with 1/30 sec. and bracketed three exposures.

Not having a wide-angle zoom on me, but instead using a fixed lens, made framing a bit difficult. 

And finally, and you can take my word for it, when that train zooms by and you are only 7-8 feet away, you feel it. It can be very scary. I thought I was going to have a heart attack.
