In 1983, the U.S. nuclear arsenal acquired the B83 strategic nuclear gravity bomb. The weapon may be deployed by the B-52H, B-1B and B-2 bombers. 

The B83 has delivery options that include free-fall air or ground burst. In addition the weapon may be parachute retarded or delayed ground burst. These capabilities make this bomb a full fuzing option (FUFO) weapon. 

Security features include the permissive action link (PAL) and a command disablement system. The PAL system is exhibited with its case open on top of the weapon.
