Die "Eng" bei Reichenau / The "Eng" near Reichenau

            Beim Scheiterplatz mündet der letzte enge Teil des Lackabodengrabens, die sogenannte "Eng", in einer etwa 20 Meter hohen Steilstufe in den Talboden beim Thalhof. Durch diese enge Felsenschlucht wurden bis in die 1950er Jahre im Winter die am Gahns-Plateau geschlägerten Baumstämme über vereiste Holzriesen zu Tal gebracht. Am Scheiterplatz wurden die Baumstämme gestapelt und von dort mit Fuhrwerken zur weiteren Verarbeitung weggebracht. In der Bildmitte befindet sich der Einschnitt der "Eng", flankiert von der Kammerwand rechts und den Wänden des Feuchters (auch Feichtaberg) links.

At the place Scheiterplatz disembogues the last narrow part of the Lackaboden trench, the socalled "Eng" (~ narrowness), with a nearly 20 metres high step down in the valley floor near Thalhof. Until the 1950 years were each winter through this narrow couloir brought down to the valley over iced log flumes the logs, which were felled before on the Gahns plateau. At the Scheiterplatz place were the logs stacked and from there they were then carried away for further processing. In the middle of the picture you can see the trench of the "Eng", flanked by the Kammerwand wall on the right and the walls of Feuchter mountain (also called Feichtaberg) on the left.
