The famous Krishna Temple in the Lalitpur/ Patan Durbar Square

            The famous temple dedicated to the Hindu playboy god Krishna in the Durbar square in Lalitpur/ Patan, Nepal. This is one of the most important structures of the square. This Shikhara type temple has stone carvings and beam pillars. The carvings explain the scenes of Hindu epic, Mahabharata. The second floor carvings explain the epic, Ramayana. This 17th century temple has 21 gold pinnacles. The first floor holds the main temple of Lord Krishna, Lord Rukmani and Lord Radha. The second floor holds temples of Lord Shiva and Lord Lokeshwor. I did not visit the temple interior as I am not particularly religious, and at any rate it was closed, probably due to the tie of the day. (Lalitpur/ Patan Durbar Square, Nepal, Oct/ Nov 2019)
