Miles of Moss

            Despite less than ideal weather conditions an intrepid friend and I were determined to tackle the 10 km return walk to Montezuma Falls, which is located near the mining town of Rosebery and is Tasmania's highest waterfall (104 meters). The walking track runs along an old tramway that was closed in 1932. It was constructed in the 1890s to link the smelters in Zeehan to mining operations in the hills. 

On a fine day the walk would have been delightful as it leads through rainforest which include myrtle, sassafras, leatherwood and giant tree ferns - and yeah, miles of moss :-)  Unfortunately, it poured with rain almost all of the way there and back and by the time we returned to the car nearly four hours later, we were like drowned rabbits :-) This area receives a massive 3 metres of rainfall per annum and I think most of it fell that day :-) It was raining too heavily to get a decent photo of the falls, but after so much effort I will post the one I did take anyway~! (Below)
