Snow Gates - a photo on Flickriver

Snow Gates

            I had zero interest in seeing the Gates. From the endless stream of photos on Flickr and the coverage in the papers and on TV, they just didn't look all that impressive. I figured seeing them in the snow might give them an extra "oomph," especially if I made it there before countless New Yorkers, tourists, and photobloggers trudged beneath them, leaving trails in the snow. I wanted to see a virgin blanket of snow beneath the "saffron" colored sheets. No dice. Assholes had already tromped through. Still, it was nice to see the bright orange standing out on a field of white. I'm still not impressed. The concrete footings that the frames are anchored to seem clunky and inelegant, and after about two seconds the whole thing ceases to have any novelty. Still, I invite you to enjoy my photos of the Gates in the snow.
