SHANNON FALLS PROVINCIAL PARK

            Shannon Falls Park is directly next to Highway 99. It is a popular day-use park offering picnicking, hiking, and access to the well-known trail in Stawamus Chief Park.

The tumbling waters of Shannon Falls originate from Mount Habrich and Mount Sky Pilot. They rise 335 m above Highway 99, making this the third highest falls in British Columbia (ranking behind 481 m Della Falls in Strathcona Park and 396 m Hunlen Falls in Tweedsmuir Park). 

Just south of Squamish on the Sea to Sky Highway is Shannon Falls Provincial Park. A small park, adjacent to the Stawamus Chief Provincial Park, it is home of the third highest waterfall in British Columbia. Originating from the alpine massif below Sky Pilot Mountain and the Stadium Glacier, Shannon Creek tumbles some 335m down, over granite cliffs, to the valley below.

The park is just off the highway and has a nice picnic area, BC Parks kiosk and a short, easy hike to the base of the falls. Just 350m each way, the Shannon Falls Trail meanders along the base of the falls through old growth Douglas Fir, Hemlock and Western Red Cedar. There are viewpoints along the way and even an opportunity to walk into the boulders at the base of Shannon Creek.

Shannon Falls can be accessed from the main parking area or from both the Stawamus Chief and Sea to Sky Gondola parking lots. There is an easy hiking trail that connects all three lots.
