Forêt domaniale de Montrichard. 

La forêt de Montrichard appartient à l'Etat et est gérée par l’ONF (Office National des Forêts). Elle s’étend sur 4 communes, Montrichard, Bourré, Pontlevoy et Vallières. Le chêne y domine.

François Ier qui avait visité Chenonceau du temps de Thomas Bohier*, comme il nous l'apprend lui-même, allait « souvent chasser et prendre son passe- temps »  dans les forêts d'Amboise et Montrichard.

Un édit de 1669 supprime la maîtrise** de Montrichard, et la forêt de Montrichard est rattachée à la maîtrise d'Amboise. 

 * Thomas Bohier fait construire le château de Chenonceau, à partir de 1513. Son épouse Katherine Briçonnet supervise la construction.

** La maîtrise des eaux et forêts était une juridiction chargée de surveiller et de contrôler les forêts royales à l'origine. Au XVIe siècle, les Eaux et Forêts élargissent leur influence même dans les bois n'appartenant pas au roi. Cette juridiction disparaît en 1790.
