A very difficult negative to digitally restore due to the high contrast and scratches but well worth the effort.

Nice social document of the Works at Brighton and the final finishing of BR tank 80040. The boy at the front of the smokebox looks like he is really enjoying his job. His contemporary today is probably working in a call centre.

Records show this is 3 days before it was finished and released for traffic !
