Remains of Vildštejn Castle

            If this castle would still stand, it would be like from a fairy tail. Founded around 1315, it was built on a high rock that fell right into a river on three sides, and the fourth side was also an extremely sharp canyon. The only access into the castle was through long ladders - after they were removed, it was impossible to get in or out. The core was a tower palace surrounded by a stone wall. After serving as a bandit base it fell to the king, and was seized by Hussites in the 1420ies, after it was added to a larger county in 1436 it´s destiny was sure - it´s mentioned as abandoned in 1499. A massive interference was the construction of the Seč dam in 1925-1935, when the dam wall was built directly next to the rock under the castle, and a tunnel was razed through it. The unstable tower had to be demolished, and only the walls of the palace and remains of the wall still exist, very hardly accessible on private. grounds.
