Welcome to the Ohio River; to Schooner's; and to the straight white cables of the 31st Street Bridge.

Here is a favorite area. Even if you've never been to Huntington, West Virginia, you've probably seen this view on postcards. Postcard companies usually photoshop out the powerlines but I left them in, on my version of the picture.

On the list of my favorite buildings & structures completed in 1985, the 31st Street Bridge comes in second place, just behind the Bishkek White House and just ahead of the Massachusetts Archives building.

In the Guyandotte neighborhood of Huntington, West Virginia, on January 2nd, 2011, a view of the Ohio River, Schooner's Waterfront Grille, and the East Huntington Bridge (a/k/a the 31st Street Bridge, a/k/a the Frank Gatski Memorial Bridge, a/k/a the East End Bridge), as viewed from a point to the west of the north end of Buffington Street. Proctorville, Ohio, is on the opposite riverbank.
