Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider (tipo 750)

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta was manufactured from 1954 to 1962 with engines of 1’290 cc and 50 hp to 100 hp, introduced at the Turin Motor Show in 1954. Almost 132'000 (Sprint, Berlina and Spider) were built in the Portello factory in Milan.The first Giulietta model was a coupé, the Giulietta Sprint, introduced in late 1954. This was followed by a sedan in spring 1955 and in mid 1955, the open two-seat Giulietta Spider with 80 hp to 90 hp, featuring convertible bodywork by Pininfarina. The Giulietta Spider was the first convertible by Alfa Romeo of large-scale production and established the brand’s image as manufacturer of small and sporty open two-seaters of masterful Italian car-fashion available for reasonable price. In 1962 the Giulia Spider was launched together with the Giulia sedan (bone tail). The Giulia Spider was a rebadged and updated version of the Giulietta (series 101), now with a 1.6 litre up to 112 hp (Veloce) instead of a 1.3 litre engine. If a Giulietta Spider is discovered in original condition it is simple to distinguish from a later Giulia Spider which features a bonnet bulge to clear the slightly taller 1.6 litres engine.
