The name Mkinvartsveri means the Icy Peak in Georgian. The mountain is popular among mountaineers and adventurers. The standard route for the ascent usually starts from Stepantsminda, with the Gergeti Trinity Church serving as the starting point. Kazbek is often covered in snow and ice, which adds to the spectacular and mysterious appearance of the region. On clear days, the summit offers beautiful panoramic views of the Caucasus.
