56096 and 56105 3S32 Purton 04/11/22

Returning to base on the final leg of their overnight duties on the 'Cotswolds' RHTT circuit, work stained 56096 and 56105 are seen heading away from Collins Lane level crossing in Purton with the early running 3S32 11:07 Cheltenham Lansdown Loop to Swindon Transfer (via Severn Tunnel Junction) Rail Head Treatment Train working on behalf of Network Rail. The train is made up of two specially built FEA flat wagons fitted with modular storage tanks, pumps and spraying equipment.

A decline in passenger traffic at the time saw the line through here singled in 1968 as an economy measure. The 12 miles of single line between Kemble and Swindon Loco Yard later became operationally restrictive so it was returned to double track in 2014.
