For decades the 'local' service' serving Trent Valley stations provided by successive operators from British Railways onwards had been dire. Infrequent trains dogged by unreliability; the nationalised way of the running a railway, in fact. Gradually, though, things improved, and now there is an hourly interval service from Crewe to London Euston stopping at all stations between Stafford and Rugby. Not only has it generated traffic to Euston, but also revitalised the demand for local journeys along the Trent Valley. On 1st April London Midland 'Desiro' Class 350/1 No. 350116 calls at Rugeley Trent Valley with 1U43 1646 London Euston-Crewe.
