Loco-haulage on the Fylde is not a common event anymore, least of all a Class 60 on a charter. It has happened before, but nevertheless, the appearance of DBS Class No. 60054 on UK Railtours Lancashire Coast & Hills charter on 17th April 2014 was worth turning out for. The train is 1Z12 0726 London Euston-Blackpool North, and it has just passed Carleton Crossing and is now just a couple of miles distant from Blackpool North. This working provided some variety, as it started from Euston with a Class 92 up front, with the Class 60 taking over from Warrington Bank Quay for a jolly via Manchester Victoria to Huddersfield via Standedge, and then to Blackpool by way of the Calder Valley, Copy Pit, Blackburn and Preston.
