Midland Railway: Hammersmith

            A new elevated view of Hammersmith, the western terminus of the Midland Railway, from the recently opened footbridge at Butterley station. The footbridge was donated by Network rail and once stood at Loughborough station until replaced a few years ago. On 11th July 2015 Class 47 No. 47401 'North eastern' is about to draw the first round trip of the day back into Butterley station. At the rear is 'Princess Coronation' No. 46233 Duchess of Sutherland which was operating in top and tail mode with the Class 47. The ex-Midland Railway signal box once stood at Kilby Bridge on the Leicester Loop, while the Midland-pattern lower quadrant signals are beginning to reflect their age.
