A new spur for the 'Spurs'

            This is the down slow line beyond Searchlight Lane Junction heading to rejoin the formation of the West Coast Mainline about half a mile to the north. The catenary in the background pinpoints the location of Searchlight Lane Junction and the route of the new alignment to Stone, while the bonus on 2nd April 2016 is 'Caledonian Sleeper' liveried Class 86/1 No. 86101 'Sir William A Stanier FRS' working along the down slow line with 1Z85 1119 London Euston - Liverpool Lime Street 'Footex', with a near uniform rake of ex-Virgin mark 2 air conditioned stock. It had been a busy day for 'Sir Bill', as it had earlier worked the Lowland Sleeper from Glasgow Central to Euston prior to being diagrammed for the 'footex'. For posterity, the footex was taking Tottenham Hotspur supporters north for the game with Liverpool at Anfield: the score was 1-1, but at least the 'Spurs fans had the benefit of a celebrity 'Can' for traction.
