Cross City Steam - a photo on Flickriver

Cross City Steam

            A couple of Tyseley's 5700-Class Pannier Tanks rattle through Shenstone on 14th April 2012 working Vintage Trains 1Z84 0755 Tyseley Warwick Road - Tyseley Warwick Road 'East Midlands Rambler'. Due to the intensity of the Cross City Line service pathing any charter service, let alone a steam-hauled train, is difficult so this is a very rare event.. London Transport liveried L94 (7752) leads with No. 9600 tucked inside as they head for Wichnor Junction. The route was circuitous, initially working bunker-first over the Sutton Park Line to Walsall then onwards to Birmingham International where the train reversed.  Now chimney-first, it was back to Aston and over the Cross City Line to join the old South Staffordshire Line at Lichfield City through to Wichnor Junction. Then, it was a passage over the Coalville Line prior to heading back to Tyseley via Hinckley, Nuneaton and Water Orton. Copyright Photograph John Whitehouse - all rights reserved
